About The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without descrimination.

Identified by
author and management expert Peter Drucker as,

"by far the most effective organization in the United States," The Salvation Army invests the charitable gifts it receives in the lives of men and women and boys and girls. "No one even comes close to it in respect to clarity of mission, ability to innovate, measurable results, dedication and putting money to maximum use," Drucker said. (Forbes, August 11, 1997).
The Salvation Army is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. As such, we are solely dependent on donations and money generated through fund raisers to help the needy in communities all across the state, and throughout the United States and the rest of the world.

Concerned individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate entrust The Salvation Army with financial contributions, thereby allowing our organization to be their hands in the community. As a result of generous charitable contributions, the Army is able to provide food for the hungry, offer shelter to those without a home, help the addicted break free from dependence on drugs and alcohol, assist working-poor families with emergency rent and utility bill payments, and much more.

According to the Army's 2000 annual report, approximately $0.85 of each dollar spent by The Salvation Army is used to fund direct services for people.

Your continued support makes our work possible in your community.

The Salvation Army also helps people in crisis during times of natural disaster, such as a hurricane, flood or tornado. The Army has the primary responsibility for providing meals to victims of a disaster, as well as the relief workers who are helping in these tragic situations.
